The holiday season is winding to an end, but that doesn’t mean activity in Wake Forest has to stop. This community has something going all the time, and January and February are a great time to get to know the art and culture scenes of Wake Forest.
Art After Hours
Now that the holiday craziness is over, why not take some time to get to know Wake Forest a little better? Art After Hours is a great way to do this. On the second Friday of the month starting on January 13, Art After Hours will bring downtown Wake Forest to life. Merchants will offer their wares while music will keep you entertained as you explore the restaurants and boutiques of the community.
Wake Forest MLK Celebration
On Thursday, January 19 at 6:00 pm, head to Friendship Chapel Baptist Church for the 22nd annual Wake Forest MLK Celebration. Celebrate the heritage of Martin Luther King, Jr. while enjoying a light meal and a program put on by members of the community. Remember the hard work Dr. King put in to bringing equality to our country.
Arts for All Performance by Mike Wiley
Continue celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy at this Arts for All event. Scheduled for February 4 with two performances at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre. This free performance features actor Mike Wiley who will present King and the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Watch as Mike Wiley brings Dr. King to life once again and revel in the history and heritage of this great leader.
Wake Forest ARTS Presents Neck of the Woods
On Friday, February 17 head to the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for Wake Forest ARTS Present Neck of the Woods. This performance series introduces emerging local artists and features many different performing acts. This is a great way to see some of the up-and-coming stars that Wake Forest is creating, and with tickets just $5 per person, you’ll have plenty of money left over for the cash bar and refreshments. The performance starts at 7:30 pm.
As you can see, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy in the new year. While the festivals and large events of the holidays are winding down this time of year, the community of Wake Forest continues to provide interesting activities and events all year long.
