When you move into Holding Village, you’re going to absolutely love your new home. Of course, you’re not going to stay in the house all of the time no matter how great it is. You want to get outside to play and exercise. People come to this area for the desirable new Wake Forest homes, but they discover and love the lake, parks, pools, fishing in Lake Holding, and trails.
Kayaking
When you move into Holding Village, you have access to Holding Lake. What other community in Wake Forest has a nature-made 15-acre lake as an amenity? Holding Lake is a perfect place to kayak! Kayaking is a low impact activity with a big impact on your overall health and wellness. Kayaking can improve your aerobic fitness, strength, and flexibility. It has been known to increase muscle strength, particularly in the back, arms, shoulders and chest.
Fishing
The same lake that is perfect for kayaking is also bound to be your favorite new fishing spot. A sport is something that requires skill, physical exertion, and is competitive. Fishing is a sport, not just a hobby! Just like any other sport, fishing requires physical exertion and skill. It can also be quite competitive when you’re fishing with friends and family. Perhaps your competition is simply the big fish you caught in Holding Lake last week!
Hiking
Wake Forest enjoys some of the best weather in the country, as well as the most beautiful scenery. Our area offers easy access to some of the best hiking spots you’ll ever find. Neuse River Trail and Falls Lake Trail are a few of our favorites.
Cycling
Wake Forest is a fantastic area for both road and mountain biking. New Light Trail is an almost 8-mile loop trail located just outside Wake Forest that features a lake. The trail is primarily used for mountain biking, although hiking is permitted. It is rated as difficult, so it’s the perfect Saturday excursion for true fitness lovers.
Kick Ball
Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean your exercise has to be boring. Are you ready for some serious fun? The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department offers a fun co-rec kickball league for adults ages 18 and older. There is a spring, summer, and fall league. In fact, this is just the beginning to what the city’s parks and rec department offers in the way of sports and other outdoor activities.
There is so much to love about Holding Village! Your ability to get outside to play these sports is only the beginning. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the next phase of Holding Village is on its way with brand new builders and memories waiting to be created! We encourage you to reach out and take a tour as soon as possible so you don’t miss out.
