#1 Have a spot of tea at Sugar Magnolia Cafe & Emporium.

This is way more than just a restaurant! Sugar Magnolia is a cafe, tea house, restaurant, and art emporium in the historic district of Wake Forest. Not only can you have a great cup of tea or coffee, but the food is also tasty, and the gift shop sells locally produced art, jewelry, crafts, and more.

#2 Spend the day learning local history at the Wake Forest Historical Museum.

This museum, located right off the main street, has exhibits that showcase the early history of Wake Forest University. This includes sports, medicine, law, women, literature, and other interesting local facts.

#3 Get active!

For the sports enthusiast family, The Factory offers ice rinks, a skate park, indoor soccer, an inflatable playground, miniature golf, and go-carts. There are also places to shop and eat right in the same building. It’s the perfect way to spend a Saturday!

#4 Have a drink at White Street Brewing Company.

White Street Brewing Co. is located in historic downtown Wake Forest. Here, you have a wide selection of handcrafted, flavorful, small-batch ales and lagers. You can enjoy them in the taproom. This brewery also crafts superb seasonal and special release brews, including the Russian Imperial Stout, Koschei the Deathless.

#5 Head out for some peace and quiet.

Falls Lake State Recreation Area is one of the largest recreational facilities in the state. It offers a wide variety of fun things and activities, like swimming, boating, camping, hiking, and fishing. There are also picnic areas and playgrounds if you just need an hour or two out of the house.

One of the best things about Wake Forest is that it is such a short distance to Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina. Your family can catch a UNC Tarheels basketball game. The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is there, as well as the North Carolina Museum of Art, Neuse River Trail, Marbles Kid Museum, Pullen Park, Crabtree Valley Mall, Umstead State Park, and so much more. All of this is only about a 30-minute drive from Wake Forest!
