Celebrate Your Holiday Traditions in Wake Forest, NC

Whether your holiday traditions are set in stone or you’re looking to add some new events to your calendar, ways to celebrate the holidays abound around Holding Village in Wake Forest NC! Here are a few of the events that caught our eyes.

Kick things off with the Lighting of Wake Forest. Festivities kick off at 5:30pm on Friday, December 6th, and will include musical performances by local groups followed by the lighting of a 30-foot Christmas tree by Mayor Vivian Jones and Santa’s exciting arrival in a Wake Forest fire truck.

Need gifts for the loved ones? Check out the Wake Forest Holiday Artisans Market on December 7th  from 9am to 3pm at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre in downtown. The event will feature more than 50 vendors offering handmade items from potters, fine artists, photographers, woodworkers, fiber artists, jewelry artists and more.

There’s no more traditional holiday tradition than a holiday parade! This year’s Wake Forest Christmas Parade will take place downtown on December 14th at 1pm.

This year, we’ll not just be welcoming a new year, but also a new decade. Take the kiddos to the Noon Year’s Eve Party. Ring it all in with a nighttime hike. Or host your own get together in your new Holding Village home. (Just be safe, no matter how you celebrate.)

And even though it’s not in Wake Forest proper, the North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival is only a hop, a skip, and a jump away in Cary. This fantastical display is made up of amazing fabrics stretched over metal frames, lit up by 8000 or so lights. Each display brings a piece of Chinese history to life, with signs explaining the significance. The festival runs through January 12th and is definitely a not-to-miss event in the area!
